St. James AME Church hosts 50th anniversary commemoration of the March on Washington

SEMO Fair pageant on Sept. 8
The SEMO Fair pageant will be hosted at 3 p.m. Sept. 8 at the SEMO Fairgrounds in Cape Girardeau. The following are the age divisions participating: Tiny Miss SEMO Fair, 18 months to 3 years old; Little Miss SEMO Fair for ages 4 to 6; Young Miss SEMO Fair for ages 10 to 13; Teen Miss SEMO Fair for ages 14 to 16; and Miss SEMO Fair for ages 17 to 22. All contestants will receive a certificate of participation, and the prize package includes crown, trophies, sashes and other prizes. The Community Counseling Center Foundation 14th annual Benefit Golf Tournament is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 4. It will be an 18-hole, four- person scramble at the Cape Girardeau Country Club. Tournament fee is $125 per player.
