Summer garage sale at Osage Centre

The Osage Community Centre in Cape Girardeau will be holding a garage sale from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. There is a general admission fee of $1 for the event. For more information, call 339-6342.

Library offers classes for Facebook beginners

The Cape Girardeau Public Library will host a "Beginners Guide to Facebook" class from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Aug 24. Individuals will learn how to set up a Facebook account, find friends and change privacy settings. The event will be in the Library's Praxair Computer Lab. A personal e-mail account is required. The program is free and open to the public, but registration is required by Aug. 23. To sign up, call the Adult Services Department at 334-5279, come by the Information Desk or go online at the library website www.capelibrary.org.

51st Pulaski County Fair kicks off today

The 51st Pulaski County Fair, held in Pulaski, Ill., kicks off at 2 p.m. today. The first event will be a horse contest with 17 classes of the Western horse. The second annual parade in downtown Pulaski will be at 5 p.m. Line-up for the parade is at 4 p.m. on Market Street. This year's special guest will be "Little Obie," a miniature Canadian National locomotive along with accompanying flat car and caboose. The parade theme is "Going to the County Fair." Free gospel singing and community worship services will follow the parade at 7 p.m. Free cake and ice cream will be handed out. For more information, contact Randy Jones at 618-342-6622.

St. Joseph Parish picnic

The St. Joseph Parish church in Apple Creek, Mo., will host its picnic from 2 to 7 p.m. Sept. 4. The picnic will be an all-you-can-eat buffet with kettle-cooked beef and fried chicken. Prices for the dinner are $8 for adults and $4 for children 6 to 12. Children younger than 6 eat free. There will be musical performances by Doug and Mitch and dancing under the pavilion until 11 p.m.
