Help Habitat build a house

Habitat for Humanity is asking all willing participants who are at least 16 years old to help from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Habitat for Humanity Project House in Cape Girardeau. For more information and the location of the build, call 334-9728.

Mother's Day buffet served in Cape

A Mother's Day buffet will be served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 9 at the Plaza Conference Center in Cape Girardeau. The buffet, provided by Ray's of Kelso, will feature prime rib, turkey breast, smoked pork loin, a breakfast bar, fresh potatoes and vegetables. The Jerry Ford Orchestra will provide entertainment. Prices are $15.99 for adults, $6.99 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for children 4 and younger. Call 332-1118 to make reservations.

Pitch, Hit and Run contest planned

The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will host a local Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run competition for area youth at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Shawnee Park Sports Complex. Registration will begin at 10 a.m., and the competition will get underway at 10:30 a.m. Boys and girls will compete separately in four age divisions: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14.
