Service of lessons and carols scheduled

Trinity Lutheran Church will host a service of lessons and carols at 8 and 10:30 a.m. today at the church, 100 N. Frederick St. in Cape Girardeau. The service will be performed by Trinity singers, ringers, trebleaires, a string ensemble and string instruments.

Women's basketball tournament set

The 2016 Kelso Supply High School Girls Basketball Holiday Classic will tip off at 2 p.m. today at the Show Me Center, 1333 N. Sprigg St. in Cape Giradeau. The tournament will span three days, with games scheduled at 2, 3:30, 5 and 6:30 p.m. today; at 4, 5:30, 7 and 8:30 p.m. Monday; and at 4, 5:30, 7 and 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. The doors will open an hour prior to the first game on each day. This year's high school teams include Cape Girardeau Central, Jackson, Notre Dame Regional, Saxony Lutheran, Sikeston, Meadow Heights, Woodland and St. Paul Lutheran. Admission will cost $5 for all ages 6 and older.

Christmas services to be held

The Maple United Methodist Church will host a Christmas Eve church service at 6 p.m. Saturday at the church, 2441 Jean Ann Drive in Cape Girardeau. A service also will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Christmas at the church. Light refreshments will be served after each service. All are welcome. For more information, call (573) 335-6890.

Christmas Day meal to be served

The third annual Christmas Day Celebration sponsored by Student Santas, the Isle Casino and My Daddy's Cheesecake will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Christmas at Jefferson Elementary, 520 Minnesota Ave. in Cape Girardeau. Tickets are free and may be picked up at the Salvation Army by Thursday, Dec. 22. Each person must have a ticket to enter. Christmas Tournament scheduled

The 2016 Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament will begin at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 26, at the Show Me Center, 1333 S. Sprigg St. in Cape Girardeau. Blood drives planned

A SoutheastHEALTH Blood Drive will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, in the Harrison Room at Southeast Hospital. Those wishing to give may call the SoutheastHEALTH Volunteer Services office at (573) 651-5518 to schedule an appointment.

A blood drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at Cape West 14 Cine, 247 Siemers Drive in Cape Girardeau. There will be movie passes and long-sleeved red shirts for presenting donors while supplies last.
