The Men's Club of St. Joseph Church in Apple Creek, Mo., 10 miles south of Perryville, Mo., on Route F, is hosting a breakfast and bake sale from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. today. Admission for adults is $7, children 5 to 12 $3 and children 5 and younger free.
The United Methodist Church, 1700 E. Marshal St., Charleston, Mo., is hosting a Christmas concert at 4 p.m. today. The concert features Terry Parker, organ; Sallie Goodin, piano; the Sam and Jane Memorial Handbell Choir; Lydia Holton, cello; Mary Branum, soprano; Kerry Davis, baritone; and with special guest soloist, Anne Moore-Meyer. Admission is free.
The Chaffee Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the annual Helping Hands program. The program is a way for local sponsors to help local children have a memorable Christmas. Live Nativity to be Wednesday
Harmony Church will be having a "Live Nativity" from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Everyone is welcome, refreshments will be served in the church fellowship hall.
Big River Telephone is hosting its eighth annual Holiday Turkey Drive in two locations, Cape Girardeau and Farmington, Mo., from Nov. 1 through Dec. 21, with help from the Salvation Army, Schnucks (Cape Girardeau), Country Mart (Farmington), Withers Broadcasting and J98 "The Boot." Donation vouchers may be picked up in either city: Country Mart and J98 "The Boot" in Farmington or Schnucks and the Big River Telephone office in Cape Girardeau. The voucher, along with a $10 donation, can then be used at Country Mart or Schnucks to help feed others in the community. The Smoky Hollow String Band will present "An Old Timey Christmas" at the John A. Logan Museum of Murphysboro, Ill., 1613 Edith St., from 7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 17. The band will play an all-acoustic concert of Christmas carols and traditional music, including hoedowns, waltzes, and polkas, and will sing humorous and sentimental songs. Light refreshments will be served. Tickets are $7.50 in advance, $10 at the door; children 12 and younger free.
