Hospital auxiliary plans doughnut sale

The Saint Francis Medical Center Auxiliary will host a Krispy Kreme doughnut sale at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the center's Assisi Commons at Entrance 1. The cost is $9 for one dozen.

Identity theft workshop planned

A workshop covering issues related to identity theft will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Perry County University of Missouri Extension Center, 321 N. Main St. in Perryville, Missouri. Registration is $5 per person, and more information is available by calling (573) 547-4504.

Disease self-management workshop set

Southeast Missouri Regional Arthritis Center will host a six-week workshop designed to help patients self-manage chronic diseases. Developed by the Patient Education Research Center at Stanford University, the program is free and open to area residents. Classes will be at Saint Francis Medical Center in the Health and Wellness Center, 150 S. Mount Auburn Road, in Saint Martha Conference Room (formerly Wellness Conference Room 2). Classes meet from 9 to 11 a.m. Nov. 13, 20 and 25 and Dec. 4, 11 and 18. Registration is required and may be done by calling (573) 331-5880 or (888) 216-3293 or emailing semorac@sfmc.net.

Jackson Dental to offer free services to veterans

Spaghetti Day scheduled Thursday

Spaghetti Day, a fundraiser for the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Foundation, will from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday in the arena building. The menu includes spaghetti, mostaccioli, garlic bread, salad, drinks and desserts. The cost is $7 for those ages 13 and older, and $5 for children ages 5 through 12. Church plans 'Homemade Christmas'

Eisleben Lutheran Church in Scott City will host "A Homemade Christmas" from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Included will be crafts, baked goods and Christmas items for purchase as well as a soup lunch.

Chili cook-off scheduled at Knights of Columbus Council No. 111 will host a chili cook-off with six recipes from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the lower hall, 318 S. Spanish St. in Cape Girardeau. In addition to chili, hot dogs, vegetables and desserts will be served. The cost is $9 per person. A social hour with a cash bar will start at 5:30 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the KC hall improvement fund.

School dinner auction set Saturday

The St. Vincent de Paul home and school dinner auction will be at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Plaza Convention Center by Ray's in Cape Girardeau; doors will open at 4:30 p.m. Information and tickets are available by calling (573) 576-1334.

Church youth set spaghetti dinner

The youth of Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim will host a spaghetti dinner and bazaar from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 15 at the church hall. The menu will included spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, dessert and beverages. Freewill donations will be accepted, with proceeds to support those attending the National Youth Gathering in New Orleans in 2016.

Heart and health screening offered

Saint Francis Medical Center offers medical screenings the third Wednesday of each month. The next session will be from 7 to 10 a.m. Nov. 18 at the Health and Wellness Center, entrance 8. Services include a heart screening, lipid profile plus glucose for $29, which includes total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, cardio risk ratio plus glucose for diabetes; a free blood-pressure screening; glucose screening for $6; and women's osteoporosis screening for $25.
