Tworkowski and Jones to speak at Southeast

Jamie Tworkowski, founder of To Write Love on Her Arms, and Julia Jones, an actress best known for her role as Leah Clearwater from the Twilight Saga, will present Pain, Hope, Questions and Community: An Evening with To Write Love on Her Arms from 7 to 8:30 Tuesday at Rose Theatre on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. To Write Love on Her Arms is a not-for-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. The event is free, and doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Holiday bazaar at Maple United Methodist

Maple United Methodist Church, 2441 Jean Ann Drive, will hold its holiday bazaar from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. The bazaar will feature crafts, New to You Christmas Shoppe, Sweet Shoppe with home-baked goods, special candies and bags of gourmet caramel pecan popcorn. Breakfast and lunch will be available at Mom and Pop's Kitchen. New vendors from Lake of the Ozarks and Columbia, Mo., will be at the bazaar. No Other Name to perform at Miner revival

Dove Award-nominated No Other Name will perform Friday through Nov. 10 at the Miner Baptist Church revival, which begins at 6 p.m. Friday at the church with a fish fry open to the public. The revival will host services at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 8:30 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. Nov. 10. Dr. Kevin Shrum, pastor of Inglewood Baptist Church in Nashville, Tenn., and professor at Union University will speak. Miner Baptist Church is at 416 Routhe H in Sikeston, Mo. 14th annual veterans honor service

Veterans will be honored at the 14th annual veterans honor service at 11 a.m. Nov. 10 at the First Pentecostal Church, 3054 Lexington Ave. The church campus will be decorated with flags, each dedicated to a soldier living or deceased, and there will be a display of more than 90 photos and biographies of veterans connected to the church congregation. U.S. flags of all shapes and sizes and flags of all branches of service including the 9-11 tribute flag and the POW flag also will be displayed. This year's speaker will be Cmdr. Sgt. Maj. Bill Adams, National Guard retired and post commander of the American Legion Post 63 of Cape Girardeau. The event will include a musical homage to the branches of service by trumpeter and Army veteran Larry Herron, soloist Keith Parris, color guard by American Legion Post 63, flag line by the Patriot Guard Riders, an antique military vehicle display by the SEMO Military Vehicles Group, an MIA tribute delivered by Vietnam veteran Ted Jackson and the Cape Girardeau Fire Department's Ladder Truck with its 40 foot U.S. flag. Guests will include representatives of American Legion Post 63, the Nancy Hunter chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Allen Laws chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, the Society of the Descendants of Washington's Army at Valley Forge, Cape Girardeau VFW Post 3838, Jackson VFW Post 10495 and representatives of the Cape Girardeau National Guard 1140th Engineer Battalion.
