Food for fines
During December the Cape Girardeau Public Library will accept canned and dried food for overdue fines. This does not apply to replacement of materials or other library fees. Each item donated equals 50 cents. Donations are welcome. FISH food pantry will distribute the donated items to local needy families. No expired or damaged food accepted.
Boy Scout Food drive results
The BSA Shawnee District Scouting for Food Can Collection reported a total of 53,204 cans donated overall. In Cape Girardeau 18,176 cans were collected, and in Jackson 14,876 cans were collected. The remaining 20,152 cans were collected in Marble Hill, Perryville, Advance and Scott City.
Caring for Kids Coat Drive
The Appraisal Consultants Inc. in Scott City will begin its annual Caring for Kids Coat Drive on Monday. There will be a drop-off container at the office at 314 Crites St. in Scott City until Dec. 10.
