Church youth set spaghetti dinner

The youth of Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim, Missouri, will host a spaghetti dinner and bazaar from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 15 at the church hall. The menu will included spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, dessert and beverages. Freewill donations will be accepted, with proceeds to support those attending the National Youth Gathering in New Orleans in 2016.

Heart and health screenings offered

Saint Francis Medical Center offers medical screenings the third Wednesday of each month. The next session will be from 7 to 10 a.m. Nov. 18 at the Health and Wellness Center, Entrance 8. Services include a heart screening, lipid profile plus glucose for $29, which includes total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, cardio risk ratio plus glucose for diabetes; a free blood-pressure screening; glucose screening for $6; and women's osteoporosis screening for $25.

LFCS home tour slated Dec. 5

The LFCS Holiday Home Tour will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 5. Six homes, a refreshment stop, giveaways, games and auction items will be part of the tour. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door the day of the tour. Those serving as a host/hostess during one of the shifts will receive a half-price ticket. Meals With Friends menus set

The Salvation Army's Meals With Friends will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Nov. 16 through Nov. 20 and Nov. 23 through Nov. 25. A Thanksgiving meal will be served on Nov. 26, and the Salvation Army will be closed Nov. 27. The menu is as follows:

  • Monday: Baked chicken, rice, green beans, bread, fruit and dessert.
  • Tuesday: Sloppy joes, macaroni and cheese, corn, bread, fruit and dessert
  • Wednesday: Turkey and gravy, cheese potatoes, green beans, fruit and dessert
  • Thursday: Spaghetti, green beans, fruit, bread and dessert
  • Friday: Leftovers
  • Nov. 23: Beans and ham, cornbread, fruit, dessert
  • Nov. 24: Chicken and noodles, corn, bread, fruit, dessert
  • Nov. 25: Ham sandwiches, Ramen noodles
  • Nov. 26: Thanksgiving Meal
  • Nov. 27: Closed

Euchre tourney planned in Oran

The Oran Jayceess will host a euchre tournament at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 25 at the Jaycee Hall, 200, N. Haw St. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Tourney proceeds will be used for food baskets for families in need in the communities of Oran, Chaffee, Benton and Morley. The entrance fee is $10 plus canned goods; activities will include a blind draw, cash prizes, a cash bar and a 50/50 raffle. Food will be served. Wreath sponsorships offered

Mound City National Cemetery in Mound City, Illinois, will honor veterans Dec. 12 as part of the Wreaths Across America Day. A rememberance ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Dec. 13 at the cemetery, 151 State Highway 37. A wreath sponsorship may be purchased for $15 until Nov. 28; the wreath may be placed at veterans grave at Mound City or at another cemetery. Hinson to lead gospel singing

Trinity Assembly of God in Olive Branch, Illinois, will present a free gospel sing with Ronny Hinson at 11 a.m. Nov. 22. Hinson is best known as writer of the gospel music standard "The Lighthouse," which won the Dove and Fan Award for Song of the Year in 1972.
