The Southern Illinois Train Club will host a show and sale of model trains Nov. 21. The group has held at least two shows a year in Southern Illinois for 25 years showcasing model trains of several varieties, brands and sizes. This fall show will have model railroads for show and for sale. It will also have vendors and layouts of all scales. The show will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Benton Civic Center in Benton, Ill. Entry is $3 for adults, free for children 12 and younger. For more information, call Don Reder at 335-1954.

Parade of Lights set for Nov. 28

Old Town Cape will sponsor this year's Parade of Lights with the theme "Christmas Dreams." The parade will be at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 28 in downtown Cape Girardeau. It will begin in the Capaha Park, go east on Broadway, south on Main Street and end at Main and Independence streets. All parade floats will be lighted and have Christmas music playing. Proceeds from the parade benefit downtown Christmas activities. For more information, call 334-8086.

Meeting on youth abuse prevention set

The Youth Abuse Prevention town hall meeting will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Cape Girardeau Public Library. At the meeting, the Youth Abuse Prevention coalition will share the results of a recent Youth Access survey that was administered to young people between the ages of 12 and 20 and live in Cape Girardeau County. The survey was administered to determine how and where teens access alcohol, tobacco and other drugs and what substances are used most frequently. The event is for teenagers and adults.
