Kindergarten enrollment for eligible children living in the Jackson School District will be from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 29 at South Elementary at 1701 S. Hope St. Children eligible for the 2009-2010 school year must be 5 years old before Aug. 1, 2009. Parents or guardians need the child's birth certificate, immunization record, Social Security card and proof of residency.

Auxiliary moves meetings

The Jackson VFW Auxiliary 10495 will now meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Jackson armory the second Thursday of each month. The group previously met at 7 p.m. in the Riverside Regional Library. The new time and location takes effect Jan. 8.

Reservations needed for annual banquet

The Jackson Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual banquet Thursday. The event will be held at the Knights of Columbus. A social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. Ray's of Kelso will cater the event. Business and industry of the year awards will be presented. Contact the Jackson Chamber of Commerce at 243-8131 for reservations.

Ag Expo Beauty pageant

The 2009 Ag Expo will be Jan. 23 and 24 at the Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff, Mo. The beauty pageant, including seven age groups (birth to 12 months; 13 to 23 months; 2 to 4 years; 5 to 7; 8 to 12; 13 to 15; 16 to 20) will start at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 24. Day-of registration is $25.
