Discovery Playhouse to hold trivia night
Discovery Playhouse is hosting 70s, 80s and 90s Trivia Night at 5:45 p.m. Feb. 22 at Discovery Playhouse. Cost for a team of eight is $120. There will be a cash bar, 50/50 drawing and complimentary snacks. Participants are encouraged to wear their best 70s, 80s and 90s outfits, and prizes will be awarded to the best dressed by decade. Managed turkey hunt application deadline is Feb. 28
The Missouri Department of Conservation announced the managed turkey hunt application deadline is Feb. 28 for the spring season. Hunters may apply individually or in groups of up to three. Participation in managed turkey hunts is free. Managed hunts will take place during the youth turkey season, April 6 and 7, or the regular turkey season, April 15 through May 5. Relay for Life fundraiser scheduled for Feb. 23
Drury Hotels is hosting a fundraiser dinner, dance and auction for its Relay for Life team at 4 p.m. Feb. 23 at Bavarian Halle. Safe House for Women to hold quarterly meeting
The Safe House for Women is hosting the domestic violence community response task force quarterly meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Eagles Banquet Hall. St. Joseph Church to hold breakfast and bake sale
St. Joseph Church of Apple Creek is hosting a breakfast and bake sale from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 10. Sausage, scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, biscuits and gravy, coffee cake and drinks will be served. Cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children ages 5 to 12, and free for children under 5.
CASA receives VISTA Award
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Southeast Missouri, received the AmeriCorps VISTA Award. This award will allow CASA to hire a full-time recruitment, marketing and development coordinator to promote awareness of CASA and issues facing children in foster care. The coordinator will also work with volunteer recruitment, outreach, fundraising and program development. The VISTA program offers education awards or post service stipends, a modest living allowance, health care benefits, child care assistance and student loan deferment during the year of service.
