The ladies of the Guardian Angel Parish Council Catholic Women will hold a sausage and ham breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Feb. 6 at the Guardian Angel School Gym in Oran, Mo. The meal will consist of sausage and ham, pancakes, fried eggs, biscuits and gravy and homemade cinnamon rolls. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children of the age group of 6 to 12 and free for children 5 years old and younger.
The Missouri Department of Conservation will present a "Discover Nature: Women Rabbit Hunting with Beagles Clinic," a one-day training session and guided hunt Feb. 12 at the Duck Creek Conservation Area in Cape Girardeau. "Discover Nature: Women" is a series of outdoor skills training sessions designed for women. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and are required to purchase appropriate hunting permits. A $25 registration fee must be included with applications. This payment will be returned to the participants at the clinic. Applications and fees should be delivered to the Missouri Department of Conservation's Southeast Regional Office in Cape Girardeau by Feb. 4. Applicants will be notified of the results of the selection process after Feb. 4. Applicants born on or after Jan. 1, 1967, must complete a Hunter Education Course or purchase an Apprentice Hunter Authorization in addition to their regular small-game hunting permit in order to attend the event. The Salvation Army in Cape Girardeau will be serving free meals from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Jan. 24 to 28. Donations needed include divided carryout trays, 12- and 16-ounce cups, plastic spoons, forks and knives, bowls, large divided plates, napkins, dessert plates, chili powder, garlic powder and lemon pepper seasoning.
