Heartland Pops seeking singers for Christmas Concert

The Heartland Pops Chorus needs a few more tenors, basses and first sopranos for its Christmas show at 7:15 p.m. Dec. 7 at Academic Hall. Altos and second sopranos are also invited. Contact director Jerry Ganiel at 579-6127 for rehearsal times. The chorus will perform its fall concert Sept. 20.

Knights of Columbus cook fish and chicken for dinner

There will be a fish and chicken dinner from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Jackson Knights of Columbus hall. Dinner includes fried fish, fried chicken, french fries, coleslaw, dessert and drinks. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children. Children 4 and younger eat for free. Proceeds and benefits will go to Francisan Sisters TOR of the Sorrowful Mother.

Missouri Department of Conservation offers Youth Waterfowl Clinic

The Missouri Department of Conservation will offer Youth Waterfowl Clinic Oct. 3 at Duck Creek Conservation area in Puxico, Mo. The Hunting Skills University program was developed in 2003 by the Missouri Department of Conservation to allow young shooters, graduating from Hunter Education, to apply the skills they learned in a field setting. Hunters ages 11 to 15 who have successfully completed a Hunter Education course are eligible to apply. Applications must be received by Sept. 30 For more information or an application, contact the Southeast Regional Missouri Department of Conservation at 290-5730.
