Southeast accepting entries for Homecoming parade

Southeast Missouri State University is preparing for its 2009 Homecoming parade, and Southeast students are requesting help from the community. The theme for this year's festivities is "Get in the Game." Student floats will be decorated in a board game theme. Community entries may be related to the theme or decorated to reflect their own spirit or program. Entries may include large floats, small trailers, decorated vehicles, walking groups or marching bands. Registration are available at the Campus Life and Event Services website, www4.semo.edu/campuslife/ or in the University Center room 202. Businesses, schools and organizations interested in participating must register by Sept. 25. The Homecoming parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 10, starting at Capaha Park and traveling east on Broadway to Main Street.

The Center for Cultural Interchange and its Academic Year Programs is looking for families to host students from more than 65 countries to study and live in America. The deadline to host students for the upcoming school year is Aug. 31.

Church plans fall dinner

St. Joseph Catholic Church has announced the menu for its falldDinner. The church will serve kettle beef, chicken and dumplings, chicken and dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, slaw, apple butter, french bread, dessert, tea and coffee in a family-style meal at the church from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 13 at the parish center. Adults eat for $8, children 6 to 12 are $4, children younger than 6 eat free. Carry-outs will be available.
