The Chaffee Elks Lodge 1810 will host a fried chicken dinner with all the trimmings, dessert and a drink from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the lodge, 120 E. Yoakum Ave. in Chaffee, Missouri. The dinner will cost $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 6 to 12 and will be free for children 5 and younger. The meal will be buffet style.
The Salvation Army will host these Meals with Friends from noon to 1 p.m. June 20 to 24:
Monday: Ham, mashed potatoes, corn, fruit and dessert
Tuesday: Spaghetti, green beans, cornbread, fruit and dessert
Wednesday: Turkey and gravy, stuffing, green beans, fruit and dessert
Thursday: Hamburger Helper, corn, fruit and dessert

An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 23, at the Cape Girardeau Public Library, 711 N. Clark St. in Cape Girardeau. The event will be hosted by the Friends of the Cape Girardeau Public Library, and donors will be given $5 in Friends Bucks to use toward the purchase of a hot beverage or book bag, or to use at library book sales and the book cart. The 42nd annual East Prairie Sweetcorn Festival will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 24, and at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at the Downtown Gazebo, Washington and Main streets in East Prairie, Missouri. The weekend will kick off with a block party Friday night with live music from The Boomers, carnival rides, food and more. The Tour de Corn Bike Ride will begin at 7:30 a.m. Saturday. The Cape Girardeau Masonic Temple Association will have an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at the Masonic Temple, 2307 Broadway in Cape Girardeau. The meal will include scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, biscuits, gravy, coffee, milk and orange juice. Tickets are $6 for adults; children ages 5 and younger eat free. A picnic will be held from 3 to 11 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at St. Maurus Roman Catholic Church, 10198 Highway B in Biehle, Missouri. A buffet-style all-you-can-eat meal will be served from 3 to 7 p.m. and will include fried chicken, dressing, kettle beef and more. The meal will cost $9 for adults, $4.50 for children ages 6 to 11 and will be free for children 5 and younger. Carryouts will be available. A lunch stand will serve hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken strips and french fries from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Proceeds will be matched by the Western Catholic Union. The Rev. Jim French will lead Mass at 4 p.m. and other events throughout the day will include bingo, games, face painting and more. The Cairns Sounds will provide music from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m.
