Meals with Friends scheduled

The Salvation Army will host these Meals with Friends from noon to 1 p.m. June 13 to 17:

Monday: Sloppy Joes, green beans, fruit and dessert

Tuesday: Chicken, stuffing, green beans, fruit and dessert

Wednesday: Stew beef, cornbread, fruit and dessert

Thursday: Turkey and gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, fruit and dessert

Friday: Leftovers

Drive-thru fundraiser to be held

In lieu of a 12th birthday party, Tye Thorne will host a fundraiser for the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at Dennis Scivally Park, 2428 W. Cape Rock Drive in Cape Girardeau. Donations needed for cats and dogs at the shelter include Purina puppy food, Purina dog food, Purina dry kitten food, clumping cat litter, hand sanitizer, unscented bleach and lemon-scented floor cleaner. Monetary donations also will be accepted. Drive through Dennis Scivally with a donation and wish Tye a "Happy 12th birthday."

Horseback riding camps offered

Rolling Hills Farm and Equine LLC will host horseback riding day camps from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, and Wednesday, June 29, at the farm, 386 Taiga Lane in Cape Girardeau. The camps will cost $50 per day and participants must be 8 years old or older. Participants will learn about safety, horse grooming, tacking, saddling, riding, feeding, maintenance, health care and competitive riding. Xtreme Force Live coming to The Venue

Xtreme Force Live, a live-action Hollywood stunt show, will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at The Venue, 80 S. Plaza Way in Cape Girardeau. The show will feature the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Tickets for the event are $10 for children 12 and younger and $15 for ages 13 and older. Mermaid and pirate party planned

A mermaid and pirate party will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at Cape Splash Family Aquatic Center, 1565 N. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau. Children 8 years old and younger will be able to participate in games, crafts, snack time and have their picture taken with Black Beard or Ariel. Admission will cost $5 per child. Mouse racing event to be held

The Jackson Indian Football Parents Club will host a mouse racing event from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at the American Legion Hall, 319 N. High St. in Jackson. Tickets for the event are $10 per person and can be purchased at Wings Etc., 2003 E. Jackson Blvd. in Jackson, at Mirror Image Salon, 2480 E. Main St. in Jackson, or by calling Scott Hume at (573) 579-4966.

Handbell ensemble to perform

Rebound!, Kansas City's auditioned community handbell ensemble, will present a concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at Grace United Methodist Church, 521 Caruthers Ave. in Cape Girardeau. This special engagement is the kickoff concert for the ensemble's 2016 Tour to Ring in the Land of Lincoln. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted. Library to host magic show

Keith and Company will present a magic show from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday, June 20, at the Cape Girardeau Public Library, 711 N. Clark St. in Cape Girardeau. The show will include magic tricks, ventriloquism, audience interaction and fun for the whole family. The show is free and attendees must be at least 5 years old.

Blood drive to be held

SoutheastHEALTH Volunteer Services will host an American Red Cross blood drive from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, June 23, in the Southeast Hospital Harrison Room, 1701 Lacey St. in Cape Girardeau. Walk-ins are welcome, but to make an advance appointment, call Volunteer Services at (573) 651-5518.
