The Southeast Missouri Iris Society will host a flower show from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at West Park Mall, 3049 William St. in Cape Girardeau. The theme of the event is "Rainbows in the Garden" and will feature flowers of every color of the rainbow. The show is free and open to the public. Health fair planned

The Delta Senior Citizens will sponsor a health fair from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, at the Delta Community Building, 211 E. State St. in Delta. The health screenings include blood sugar, dental, hearing, blood pressure, neck and back, foot and ankle centers, eye care, pharmacy with distribution of free vitamins and CPR training through SoutheastHEALTH. Information booths will be available, along with power of attorney and living wills, including notary services. Lunch will follow at 11:30 a.m. and live music will be provided by the Senior Notes, featuring Bob Schwepker. Community garden to celebrate opening

Opening day of the Shawnee Park Community Garden will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14, outside the Shawnee Park Center, 835 S. West End Blvd. in Cape Girardeau. The event will include a free children's book, a free container garden and garden planting seeds, all while supplies last. Attendees will have access to other information on other garden events, activities and classes, and will be able to sign up to volunteer at the garden. There also will be a book signing.

Church to celebrate 150th anniversary

A morning worship service to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Jackson (Tilsit) will be at 8:45 a.m. Sunday, May 15, at the church, 496 State Highway F in Jackson. The Rev. Dale Meyer will be the guest speaker, and an anniversary dinner will be held after the service. A 150th anniversary booklet will be available for $10. Women's health event to be held

A "Better Health Better Woman: Women's Health Event" hosted by Saint Francis Medical Center will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at the Isle Casino, 777 N. Main St. in Cape Girardeau. Check-in will begin at 5 p.m. and the speaker sessions will begin at 6 p.m. Women's health issues will be discussed, food and drinks will be available, a variety of local vendors will be present and door prizes will be given away at the end of the night. Wine tasting scheduled

A wine tasting will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 13, at the Oliver House, 224 E. Adams St. in Jackson. The event will cost $15 per person and will include a variety of wines, hors d'oeuvres, music and open tours of the house. Saint Francis hosts food drive

Saint Francis Healthcare System is hosting a food drive now through Saturday, May 14. Barrels for donations are located around Saint Francis Medical Center, 211 St. Francis Drive in Cape Girardeau, at Entrances 1, 2, 4, 6, 7 and 8. Acceptable donations include canned chicken or tuna, spaghetti, canned sauces, canned vegetables and beans, peanut butter, jellies, canned fruit, powdered milk, macaroni and cheese, toilet paper, paper towels and bars of soap. No glass items can be accepted. Six other barrels are located at other Saint Francis outreach clinics, including Charleston Family Care in Charleston, Missouri; Farmington Physician Associates in Farmington, Missouri; Jackson Family Care in Jackson; Kneibert Clinic in Poplar Bluff, Missouri; Piedmont Physician Associates in Piedmont, Missouri; and Outpatient Center Dexter in Dexter, Missouri. All items collected will go to Fellowship in Serving Humanity and St. Mary's Food Pantry. Items collected at the additional locations will be given to the communities' local food pantries. Nashville musicians to visit Cape

Musicians Bill and Vicki Sky will present a program of gospel music at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at Southside Baptist Church, 805 Hackberry St. in Cape Girardeau. A freewill offering will be accepted. For more information, call (573) 334-3656.

Annual showcase and dance scheduled

The Western Swing Music Society of the Southwest will host the 12th annual showcase and dance from 2 to 10:30 p.m. Thursday, May 19, from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday, May 20, and from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at the VFW Post 3838, 1049 N. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau. Music will be provided and there will be a jam session, door prizes and grand prize drawings. Jewelry and accessories sale planned

SoutheastHEALTH's Auxiliary will host a masquerade jewelry and accessories sale from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, May 23, and from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, in the hospital's Harrison Room, 1701 Lacey St. in Cape Girardeau. Purchases may be made with cash or credit/debit cards.
