A "Barrels for Backpacks" food drive took place on the campuses of Cape Girardeau and Sikeston high schools and area Montgomery Bank branches. The food collected will be used in the child feeding program BackPacks for Friday which meets the needs of children and their families on the weekends. Students, faculty and Southeast Missouri Food Bank staff collected food for the program at Walmart. Sikeston High School collected the most with 3,515 pounds of food. Cape Girardeau Central High School collected 1,133 pounds. Sikeston High School received the $1,000 reward provided by Walmart and 75 pounds of sweet treats provided by the Southeast Missouri Food Bank.
