Five things I enjoy about fall

1. Taking photos: Every year I take the camera out and get photos of the foliage and do portraits of my family. I enjoy the beauty of nature and also the creative aspects of photography.

2. Watching baseball: Especially when the Cardinals are in. And, boy, do they make it exciting. I've loved baseball since I was a boy, and I enjoy sharing the moments with my oldest son, my youngest brother and parents. Baseball in Cardinal nation connects generations. Age is no barrier as long as Waino is slinging it and Yadi is putting the numbers down.

3. Thanksgiving Day: What beats spending time with family, while eating awesome food and watching football? One of the best days of the year, no doubt.

4. Playing cards: When fall arrives, my wife heads to the tree stands to hunt deer (hunting would be No. 1 on her list). We pack up the boys and travel nearly every weekend to her parents' house in Van Buren. When she's not hunting, four of us gather around the table to play the card game Rook.

5. Eating chili and homemade soup: Food for the soul. And guilt-free for diabetics.
