Just recently were the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes, and everyone came out in their finest fashions. Men came out all decked out in fancy coats and shirts and shoes and such. The women came out in their finest dresses and shoes and jewelry. It seemed as if the women were wearing outfits made by famous designers. There was so much talk about those on the red carpet. I didn't have a problem with what the guys were wearing. The guys wore all kinds of outfits from really weird to very traditional. Some sport their Stetsons and Tony Lama's. Growing up in cattle country, we grew up around western wear. Others wore outfits that, I guess. were supposed to make them look, to use an old term, "cool."

I find what a good many of the women wearing lacking in taste and decency. and even good looks. I'm on the north side of 40 and 50, and even 60. Not too long after the first of the year I turned 65, so my tastes and opinion are probably dated. But, honestly, I don't think they are that dated. I would imagine when I was in my 20s or 30s and even 40s I'd have enjoyed all the skin. But I don't anymore.

I admire how some of the women dressed. I find that women like Taylor Swift wear classy clothes that are cute and look really good on them. Reba wears clothes that make her look good. Dolly Parton has always worn clothes that make her look good. A classy lady who always wears good-looking clothes is Mrs. Laura Bush, our former-president's wife.

I guess when I see a good- looking women, I'd kind of like to leave some of the pleasure up to the imagination, rather then leave nothing up to imagination and virtually show everything. I'd flat be embarrassed if my wife wore stuff that some of them wear in public. And, honestly, if she wore revealing stuff like that, I would think it would even embarrass our boys. But what I find the hardest to deal with is the message they are handing down to our kids and grandkids.

I've got a granddaughter who in a few years will be dressing up for the prom and dances and other high school functions, and I'd really like her to wear more than they are wearing today. It seems like the trend today is to wear less and less and reveal more and more. I think it is disgusting, to say the least.

Now, to be honest. My wife and I didn't watch the Golden Globes and the other award shows. We don't watch the ladies dress up in their skimpy clothes and wear the angel wings. About the only place we see it is on the news. We exercise our right, and turn it off or change the channel. I bug Marge about watching the ladies that have almost nothing on walk around on stage. I tell Marge that my dog Dutchess and I are going to watch. But I have no intention of watching. I enjoy giving her a hard time.

If I had to rate how most of them dressed, I'd give most of them a zero. Marge and I vote with what we watch, and what we purchase. ponsors of shows like this can be skipped when it comes to purchases. Don't put up with ridiculous displays of next to nudity.

Until next time.
