'Finding Nemo' to be told in Navajo

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- The story of a clownfish who is encouraged by an energetic but short-minded friend to "just keep swimming" in the search for his son is being told in Navajo. The Navajo Nation Museum announced this week it's teaming up with Walt Disney Studios to dub the movie "Finding Nemo" in Navajo. Museum director Manuelito Wheeler says he's hopeful the film's tale of perseverance catches on with Navajos wanting to learn their language. "Finding Nemo" is the second major motion picture to be translated into the Navajo language, after "Star Wars." Voice auditions are being held Dec. 19 and 20 in the tribal capital of Window Rock. Native American tribes increasingly are turning to pop culture -- mobile apps, video games and computer programs -- to teach their languages.

Ayn Rand novel coming in July

NEW YORK -- An Ayn Rand novel written, temporarily shelved and later published as a play is being released in its original form. The New American Library, an imprint of Penguin Random House, announced Thursday that Rand's "Ideal" would be published July 7. Rand had worked on the novel, about a Garbo-like actress and the fans she confronts, in the mid-1930s. Unhappy with the result, she turned it into a play, which came out in 2005. Next summer's publication will include the novel and the play. Rand, who died in 1982, still is widely read. She is known for the million-selling novels "Atlas Shrugged" and "The Fountainhead."

Jimmy Fallon takes more paternity leave

NEW YORK -- Jimmy Fallon plans to take a third day of paternity leave from his "Tonight Show" duties. NBC says it will air a repeat "Tonight Show" episode today so Fallon can spend another day with his new daughter, Frances Cole Fallon. The scheduled Wednesday and Thursday "Tonight" tapings already had been canceled after her arrival Wednesday morning. Little Frances joins big sister Winnie Rose, 1. Both daughters were born to Fallon and wife, Nancy, via a surrogate. Fallon, who took over hosting "The Tonight Show" in February, has a book deal for a children's picture book, "Your Baby's First Word Will Be Dada," scheduled for release in June.
