Education briefs 4/10/09

SCHOLARSHIPS

The following students received scholarships to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2009-2010 academic year:

* Laura Boos of Gordonville and Afton Riddle of Scott City received the President's Scholarship.

* Meridith E. Medlin of Cape Girardeau and Nathan Jones of Thebes, Ill., received the Community College Scholarship.

* Kaylee B. Foeste of Chaffee, Mo., and Staci L. Brugger and Trey Simpson, both of Cape Girardeau, received the MAP Scholarship.

DEAN'S LIST

* Emily Henderson of Delta was named to the fall semester dean's list at Murray State University in Murray, Ky.

* Kyle Sutherlin of Jackson and Zachariah Dumey, Claire Segar and Jennifer Huo, all of Cape Girardeau, were named to the fall semester dean's list at Washington University in St. Louis.

DEADLINE

* The Saint Francis Foundation and Auxiliary is accepting applications for its Healthcare Scholarship Program. Each year, the foundation awards 22 scholarships of $1,000. Applicants must complete one year of an accredited health-care program with at least a 2.5 grade point average. To apply, submit a copy of a recent college transcript and an application to the foundation by 4:30 p.m. June 5. Applications are available by contacting the foundation at 331-5133 or pbrase@sfmc.net.
