The Ray and Melissa Cliff Scholarship has been established through the Southeast Missouri University Foundation.
Ray and Melissa Cliff of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, made a $5,000 gift to establish the scholarship; it will be matched with an additional $5,000 through a university program and another $5,000 through Procter & Gamble Paper Products.
It is part of the foundation's Honoring Tradition -- Inspiring Success Comprehensive Campaign.
The recipient of the renewable scholarship will be a student enrolled at Southeast who is a member of the Missouri Zeta chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He must have completed at least 30 credit hours and have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 2.75. The member must have held at least one chapter office. The alumni board in consultation with the Chapter Executive Committee will nominate three or more candidates for consideration by the University Scholarship Committee in conjunction with the director of Greek Life who will select the recipient.
Second preference will be given to enrolled male students who are considered a Sigma Phi Epsilon legacy by the chapter. To be considered a legacy, his grandfather, father or brother must have been a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon at Southeast. They must possess a minimum 2.0 grade-point average. There are no limitations to the number of credits or semesters at Southeast he needs to have completed.
Third preference will go to any Sigma Phi Epsilon member from another chapter or university who is enrolled at Southeast with at least a 2.5 grade-point average.
