Register for VBS at Lynwood Baptist Church
Register now for Vacation Bible School at Lynwood Baptist Church. Preparation for "Vacation Bible School 2007, Game Day Central: Where Heroes Are Made" is underway. From 8:30 a.m. until noon beginning June 11 and ending on June 15, this program will help children learn how to become heroes both on and off the field by focusing on Jesus and following God's plan for their lives. Each day will focus on a different theme: Join the Team, Play Your Position, Get In the Game, Take It to the Next Level, and Recruit New Teammates. Basket dinner set at Apple Creek Presbyterian
Apple Creek Presbyterian Church near Pocahontas will celebrate its 186th anniversary Sunday with a basket dinner on the grounds following the 11 a.m. service. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Jimmie Corbin from Jackson. He will baptize Gracyn Cox, daughter of Mike and Carmen Cox of Jackson. Carmen is the daughter of Mike and Donna Rushing and the granddaughter of Roy Yancey, a longtime officer and board member of the association. Carolyn Thompson will play hymns on the old pump organ during the service, and special music for the service will be provided by Robin Hosp.
John Starnes to perform at Bethany Baptist
Bethany Baptist Church of Cape Girardeau presents Christian recording artist John Starnes for a performance at 7 p.m. May 26 at Central Junior High School auditorium, 205 Caruthers Ave., Cape Girardeau. Starnes has made musical appearances on the Dr. Charles Stanley, John Hagee, and Bill Gaither's Homecoming Friends television programs. He has spoken at churches, conferences, and conventions all across the world. The concert is free to the public, and a love offering will be taken. New intern serving at First Baptist Church
Phillip Meece, son of Dr. David and Laura Meece of Jackson, is serving a summer internship at First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. He is a student at William Jewel College working toward a degree in theater and philosophy. Meece worked previously at a summer camp for inner city children in Washington, D.C., as an integral part in Bible study, development and counseling.
