Rutter's Requiem marks chorale's anniversary

The Perry County Lutheran Chorale will perform John Rutter's Requiem at 4 p.m. April 29 in the sanctuary of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, under the direction of Tyson Wunderlich. Rutter wrote the composition in 1985. It borrows from the Catholic liturgy by combining texts from the Requiem Mass and the Book of Common Prayer. "Using cello, oboe and soprano solos by Alicia Bradt and Melissa Gibbar, we will use this performance of this requiem to mark our first anniversary with a big celebration of eternal life," Wunderlich said. "We cordially invite the community to this concert of sacred music as we continue in the afterglow of the Easter celebration of our Lord's resurrection from the dead."
