Activities at First Baptist in Cape Girardeau

This Sunday at the 10:45 a.m. worship service, the Rev. Mike Shupert will begin his series of sermons, "Going From No-Win to Win-Win," which is the first in the "Life Together ... Community" series. Bible study with Dr. Ron Winstead will be at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. This week's study, the "General Epistles," will be in I Peter chapter 1. The church will provide a parents' night out from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Friday. This is a ministry to help young families have a little away time. Games, drama, learning, supper and music with trained adult supervision is provided for children. To make a reservation, call 335-6006.

Youth fund-raiser slated at Jackson church

JFGB Youth at Jackson First General Baptist Church presents "Roll'n Thru the Decades," a dinner theater that takes participants through six decades of music and television. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and April 21 at the activity center. Dinner and the program begins at 6 p.m. Proceeds from the event go toward the summer Mexico mission trip. For advance tickets, call the church office at 243-8467. Tickets may be purchased at the door if they're available.

State bishop to visit Cape Girardeau church

Bishop George Wayne Smith II will visit Christ Episcopal Church in Cape Girardeau on Sunday. The bishop and Christ Episcopal Church will be confirming five Episcopal youths at 3 p.m. The confirmands are Kristen and Andrea Richardet, Ben Hendricks, Daniel Price and Harlie Waldon. Six adults will also be received into the Episcopal Church. This spring, a pilgrimage trip to the National Cathedral (the Episcopal Church of St. Peter and Paul) in Washington, D.C., is planned. At 9 a.m. Bishop Smith will give an overview about Christ Episcopal Church, the Anglican Communion and the Episcopal Church, U.S.A. There will be a Holy Eucharist service following the meeting at 10:15 a.m., with reception following in the parish hall. Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting at 9 a.m. and to share in the Holy Eucharist at 10:15 a.m. Christ Episcopal Church is at 101 N. Fountain St.

LWML plans spring rally at Trinity on Tuesday

The Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Cape Girardeau Zone, will hold its spring rally Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the rally begins at 9 a.m. The Rev. David V. Dissen from the Lutheran Chapel of Hope at Southeast Missouri State University will be the featured speaker about campus ministry at the university. Paper towels, toilet tissue, liquid hand soap, napkins, paper plates, cups, plastic cutlery and soft drinks will be the ingathering for the Chapel of Hope.

Dexter UMC to host The Rivermen Quartet

Will Rice featured at Lighthouse revival

Evangelist Will Rice will be the featured preacher at a revival at Lighthouse Bible Baptist Church, 2826 Independence St. He will preach at 10 and 11 a.m. services and 6 p.m. on Sunday, and at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. There will be a nursery provided and special music at each service. Will Rice travels with his wife, Zena, and family throughout the United States. He is the president of the Bill Rice Ranch Ministries.

Mark and Trina Hankins to preach in Sikeston

Mark and Trina Hankins, pastors of Christian Worship Center in Alexandria, La., will lead a three-day meeting at the 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. services Sunday and at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday at Life Church on the corner of South Main Street and Stalcup Drive in Sikeston, Mo. The couple travels throughout the country and overseas preaching at ministers' conferences, seminars and camp meetings. Mark's radio broadcast, "Taking Your Place in Christ," is heard on 28 stations. He is a frequent guest and speaker on the "Praise the Lord" program seen on Trinity Broadcast Network, and is the author of several books. An infant nursery will be available, opening at 6:45 p.m. each night.

Benefit concert tonight at New McKendree

Whistle Stop Wesleys, a bluegrass group, will be in concert at 6:30 p.m. today at New McKendree South Campus, 1770 S. Hope St. in Jackson. Admission is free. A free-will offering to raise money for Shiloh Branson/Caring Bridge. Other upcoming concerts and fund-raisers include Solomon's Porch, an acoustic and alternative rock group, at 6 p.m. on April 25 at Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, and Restless Spirit, a contemporary Christian mixed group, will perform at 6:30 p.m. June 24 at New McKendree South Campus. Admission is free, but an offering will be taken to raise money for SEMO Network Against Sexual Violence.

Bulgarian evangelist to speak at local church

Bulgarian evangelist Ceitci Demirkova will speak at Victory Christian Center in Carbondale, Ill., at 9 and 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday. The public is invited to attend. Based in Seattle, Demirkova travels throughout the United States speaking at conferences and outreach events for youth and adults. Trained as a German and Russian translator, she was ordained as a minister in 1997 and is a representative of Metro Ministries of Brooklyn, N.Y. Victory Christian Center is at 607 E. Gospel concert planned in Poplar Bluff April 24

Bill and Vicki Sky, Nashville recording artists, will be in concert at 7 p.m. April 24 at Calvary Community Church, 213 Victor St. in Poplar Bluff, Mo. There is no admission charge but an offering will be taken.

Three-day revival set at Scott City church

New Life Gospel Center Church, 401 Oak St. in Scott City, will feature Bill Carter from Jonesboro, Ill. at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and April 21. Before he became a minister, Carter played and sang with Crystal Gayle and others from Nashville, Tenn.
