Easter egg hunt in Fruitland April 7

The Fruitland Community Church will have a community Easter egg hunt at 10:30 a.m. April 7 at the church, 6040 U.S. 61. The event will feature eggs, candy and special prizes, and will have graded hunts for children up to sixth grade. In the event of rain, it will be held indoors.

Jeanne Thormodson to speak at rally

The Spring Rally for the Altenburg Zone of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League will be held April 15 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells. Registration will be from 12:30 to 1 p.m., with the rally beginning at 1 p.m. The guest speaker for the rally is Jeanne Thormodson, who serves the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod World Missions as a major gift counselor. She informs those interested in supporting missions of the many areas that the LCMS is currently working and connects people to the ways that they can live out the Great Commission. Thormodson served with her husband, the Rev. Jeff Thormodson, and family in Novosibirsk, Russia, for eight years. The business meeting will include elections for zone vice president of servant resources, vice-president of Christian life and treasurer, as well as voting on revisions to the zone bylaws and standing rules. An ingathering for the 10 most underfunded mission projects in the world will be presented by each society president. A light meal will be served after the rally.

Easter events slated at First Christian Church

Daily Lenten breakfasts and devotions will be offered at First Christian Church from Monday through Friday at 7 a.m. Maundy Thursday service is at 6 p.m. on Thursday, with a light supper followed by Communion. Easter Sunday services include a sunrise service at the church site, 2411 Abbey Road, and a 10 a.m. service, followed by the releasing of butterflies outside.

Holy Week Services at Hanover Lutheran

  • Palm Sunday worship service at 7:45 a.m., and the 10 a.m. worship service includes the rite of confirmation on Sunday.
  • Maundy Thursday service, "Follow the way of life," at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday.
  • Good Friday service, "Follow the Curtain," at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Friday.
  • Easter Sunday services, "Be a Friend" Sunday, at 6:30 a.m., sunrise service; 7:30 a.m., breakfast in the parish hall; 9 a.m., Easter egg hunt for children; and 10 a.m. "Festival of the Resurrection of our Lord" service on April 8.

First Pentecostal Church of Cape Girardeau Palm Sunday Service is at 11 a.m. The adult drama team will perform "Arise My Love" using stick ministry. Easter Service will be at 11 a.m.; the adult drama team will interpret "Lord Your Holy." Special music will be performed by the Super Church Choir. There will be a candy rain on the lawn after service for all children.

Bethel to present Michael Rowan, Circleslide

Michael Rowan, a dynamic evangelist, communicator, singer and dramatist, will be in services at Bethel Assembly of God in Cape Girardeau at 9 and 10:45 a.m. on Sunday. The 6 p.m. evening celebration will feature Circleslide, an international contemporary Christian band, originally from the Cape Girardeau area. Seating is limited and admission is free. Holy Week activities in Commerce, Scott City

  • Palm Sunday service with Palm Branch Procession and Holy Communion at 9 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Commerce.
  • Maundy Thursday service with Holy Communion at 7 p.m. at Broadway UMC in Scott City.
  • Good Friday "Service of Darkness" with special candlelight service at 7 p.m. at St. Paul UMC in Commerce.
  • Community Easter sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. at Commerce Baptist Church in Commerce, Mo., with the Rev. Jim Norris of St. Paul UMC preaching. Everyone is welcome and breakfast will follow.
  • Easter worship service at St. Paul UMC in Commerce at 9 a.m.
