Lenten dinner series presented Wednesday
First Presbyterian Church at Broadway and Lorimier Street continues its Lenten celebration with Wednesday evening service following a dinner. This year's theme of Lent is "The People of the Passion." Wednesday's dinner is chicken and dumplings with dessert at 5:45 p.m. Make dinner reservations by calling the church office at 335-2579. Meditation is at 6:30 p.m. on "Joseph of Arimathea" by Lewis Bock.
Potato and chili supper at First Christian Church
The Youth at First Christian Church will have a chili and potato bar supper from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. March 31 at the church on Abbey Road. Proceeds will go toward their summer mission trip.
'More Than Just a Man' performed in Sikeston
Miner Baptist Church in Sikeston, Mo., invites the public to "More Than Just a Man" at 7 p.m. Wednesday through March 31 and at 6 p.m. April 1. Doors open an hour prior to each performance. Admission is free; nursery will not be provided. For more information, call (573) 471-1331.
Live recording at Rhema by B. Chase Williams
Gospel recording artist B. Chase Williams will record his latest release and film his DVD live at 7:30 p.m. today at Rhema Word Breakthrough Ministries, 750 N. Mount Auburn Road. Williams, of Atlanta, has been in the music industry for more than 20 years and has released three professional gospel recordings under the World Wide Record label. He and Sha Bach are expected to set a spiritual atmosphere that will include radical praise and intimate worship time with God. Admission is free.
Program on Tower of Babel at Eagle Ridge
Ivan Burgener, president of the Missouri Association for Creation in St. Louis, will present a program for students at 3 p.m. Friday at Eagle Ridge Christian School. There will be no charge, though donations will be accepted. His presentation will include a picture of the present ruins of the original Tower of Babel, pictures of pyramids from all over the world, and a sketch of Babel's tower by Herodotus. This program is recommended for ages 12 through high school. Anyone from the community who is interested is welcome to attend. He will also speak on global warming from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Glenn Auditorium in Dempster Hall on Southeast Missouri State University campus.
'The Road to Easter' sermons on Sunday
"The Road to Easter" is the new sermon series at First Baptist Church of Cape delivered by the Rev. Mike Shupert. He will speak on "The Way of the Cross" Sunday. On Palm Sunday, April 1, the Sanctuary Choir will perform a cantata titled "Who Do You Say That I Am?" The Lord's Supper will also be celebrated on Palm Sunday. Easter services will include a special message titled "Don't Miss Out on a Miracle." Everyone is invited to attend and worship.
Easter dinner and drama held at Maple Grove
Maple Grove Baptist Church in Anna, Ill., presents dinner and a musical drama titled "He's Alive" on April 6 and 7. Dinner is from 5 to 6:30 p.m., and the pageant begins at 7 p.m. Maple Grove Baptist Youth Group is hosting the fund-raising event. All proceeds will go toward the various mission activities. On the menu April 6 are grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, slaw and homemade desserts. Saturday night the group will serve pork steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, rolls and a variety of desserts. On Easter Sunday there will be a performance at 2:30 p.m. No meal will be offered. Maple Grove Baptist Church is on Perks Road, between highways 37 and 51, about 20 miles south of Anna.
