The Hamptons, Gloryroad Travelers to sing at Ill. church

The Gloryroad Travelers of Mounds, Ill., and The Hamptons of Burma, Ky., will sing at 7 p.m. March 1 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Villa Ridge, Ill.

Ordination to be conducted at Abbey Road Christian Church

Dr. Danny Stewart of Jefferson City, Mo., will conduct a service of ordination for Ray White and Greg Heinsman at 10 a.m. Sunday at Abbey Road Christian Church.

Lenten services planned at several churches in the area

  • The Rev. Barry Winders will preach at 7 p.m. Sunday at Perryville United Methodist Church. The New McKendree choir will provide music.
  • The Rev. Mike Mildren of First United Methodist Church of West Plains, Mo., will lead the Lenten worship following a 6 p.m. dinner Wednesday at Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville.
  • Sina Kaiser will lead the meditation "Caiaphas' House," centering on the home where Jesus was condemned and where Peter denied, following a dinner at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church.
  • Harry Sharp will lead the devotion at noon Wednesday at a Lenten luncheon at St. Denis Parish Center in Benton, Mo.

Revival planned at Jackson Church of the Nazarene

Tim Hancock will be the guest evangelist at a revival at the Jackson Church of the Nazarene, 2245 Old Toll Road. The revival will begin at the 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. services Sunday and continue nightly at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. Hancock, a singer and evangelist, holds more than 40 meetings a year speaking at churches, retreats and camps across the country.

Grace United Methodist Church to hold lock-in for world hunger

The youth of Grace United Methodist Church will participate in a lock-in and 30-hour fast to support world hunger missions this weekend, beginning Saturday morning and continuing through Sunday. Youth minister Joshua Smith said the purpose of the event is to make young people aware of the hunger that exists not only in the world, but also in their own country. The students hope to raise about $1,000 for world hunger missions and to collect canned goods in the church's neighborhood to give to the local FISH food pantry.
