Cape Girardeau residents Steven and Lori Peel cannot thank their neighbor Jason Crombie enough for his heroic actions. Earlier this month while Lori Peel was outside of her home she heard a strange noise come from her garage. When she opened her garage she found that her 2005 Ford Escape had caught on fire. Lori was in shock, but her neighbor Crombie was just coming home and saw the fire. He grabbed a water hose and started spraying water on the garage walls, floor and car until the fire department could arrive. Once the fire department put out the fire, they told the Peel family that if it wasn't for Crombie actions more things in the house would have caught fire. Crombie, who had just recently had back surgery, also tried to break into the house to rescue the Peel's family pets but was unable to get in. The pets were unharmed in the fire.
