The Missouri State Society Children of the American Revolution held its 58th annual state conference in St. Louis. The Byrd Settlement Society of Jackson, represented by six members and seven adult senior members, received seven first-place awards; two second-place awards; a third-place award; a national merit award and an honorable mention award. Individual awards were received by Karsten Short, first place for Kids Helping Kids in the 10 and under category; Jack Lake, first place for best ad; Chandler Short, second place for endowment pin drawing contest. Members in attendance who served the state in the business session of the conference were Morgan Lake, Missouri Senior State Society president; Jack Lake, state treasurer; Chandler Short, state curator; Karsten Short, state chairman endowment fund; Pete Lake and Madison Dush, state chairman membership; Lori Short, Thad Lake, Patsy Johnson, senior members of the state society.
