Fall Fashion Week just ended in New York City, so that means 2015 is in full swing! Each year, we peel off the old and start putting on new versions of ourselves to line up with the energy of a new chapter of our life. Most of us start with resolutions that have to do with our appearance, from our weight to a new hairstyle. I like to begin with an inner makeover as well as an outward one to usher in the new season. Personal style says a lot about who we are and where we are emotionally, so here are a few spring trends worn by three Cape Girardeau fashionistas expressing their enviable style on social media.

__Bohemian:__ Originated by the French, the Bohemian were known as refugees and constant travelers, often called gypsies. In fashion, the style is synonymous with carefree, free-flowing and unapologetic choices in clothes. Whether it's flowing skirts, floral prints or bodacious hats, a woman sporting these looks is generally fearless with her outfits and life in general, and could probably care less about what's trending in fashion at the moment.

Experiment with this style by looking no farther than our local thrift shops and secondhand stores to add one-of-a-kind pieces to your new, eclectic look. Annie Laurie's Antiques on Broadway or Pastimes Antiques on Main Street are terrific places to start.

__The button-up shirt dress:__ One of the most comfortable spring trends is the menswear-inspired shirt dress. This style says "confidence" and "cool." If you are ready for the world, then you have to look like it. All body types can make this look work, so don't be afraid to try this one out. The button-up shirt is just as great if you are not feeling the dress version. Pair with a cardigan for a smart look or add draping accessories to take the look from the workplace to a night out with the girls. You can't go wrong with this sharp addition to your wardrobe.

__Denim is back:__ Did it ever leave? Not really, but if you have been waiting to wear those acid-wash jeans with the bedazzled pockets, now is the time to dust them off. Denim says whatever you want it to say about you. Cut them up like a rebel, cuff them to look prep school polished, or press and pair with a blazer to let people know you are ready for business. Getting your old jeans altered will modernize your denim to keep it from looking dated. So many designers have deconstructed denim looks for spring, but you can recreate these looks by going the do-it-yourself route or checking out a local boutique like Philanthropy on Broadway or Danielle on Kingshighway for their new spring blues in various styles and colors.
