Buckhannon scholarship available

The annual Ruth A. Buckhannon Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a 2015 graduating senior of any public high school in Scott County who plans to become a registered nurse. The total amount of the scholarship is $4,000. This is the ninth year for the scholarship that Mrs. Buckhannon's daughters established through the First Baptist Church of Chaffee. Mrs. B, as she was known, and her husband were lifetime members of the church.The 2014 recipient was Aimee Lathum of Scott City, who was accepted into the Southeast Hospital College of Nursing in Cape Girardeau. The scholarship plaque is displayed at the high school of the current recipient. The 2015 applications and guidelines are available from Meleia Sides, Chaffee High School counselor, at 573-887-3226. Completed applications and supporting documents must be received by Sides no later than April 20.
