Rev. Jay White called to North Carolina church
The Rev. Jay White of Abbey Road Christian Church has accepted a call to a church in Greenville, N.C. His last Sunday at Abbey Road will be Aug. 24. A search committee has been formed to find a pastor to replace White.
Usama Dakdok to speak Aug. 24 in Jackson
Usama Dakdok will present "Mohammed or Christ -- Who is Greater?" at 9:15 a.m. and 6 p.m. Aug. 24 at First Baptist Church, 212 S. High St. in Jackson. Dakdok was born and raised near Alexandria, Egypt. His father is a Christian pastor who is still active in his hometown in Egypt. Dakdok came to the United States in 1992. He is a graduate of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a bachelor's degree in Christian education and a master's degree in missions. He founded The Straight Way of Grace Ministry in 2004. Young Life Reunion to be held Aug. 30 in Cape
Young Life Ministry will celebrate its 25th anniversary in Southeast Missouri with a day of activities Aug. 30. Director Rick Rivera said many of the young people who participated in the youth ministry over the past 25 years will come to the reunion, and he extends an invitation to anyone who wants to join them. Activities include a catered lunch at noon that day at Cape County Park followed by a 3:30 p.m. tour of Central High School for those who graduated before the school was built. A Young Life club meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. at LaCroix Methodist Church. For information, call Young Life at 335-8300.
