Centenary church will place time capsule

Centenary United Methodist Church will insert a new time capsule inside its cornerstone during the 10 a.m. church school hour Sunday. The new time capsule will be placed exactly 100 years to the day that an original time capsule was placed inside the historic church at 300 N. Ellis St. on May 27, 1907. Judge Steve Limbaugh Jr., Centenary's Centennial Committee chairman and a member of the Missouri Supreme Court, will offer a brief presentation in the sanctuary before all proceed to the cornerstone for the time capsule insertion.

New Life Gospel Center changes service times

New Life Gospel Center, 401 Oak St., in Scott City, will change its services from Wednesday to Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Plainview Church holds memorial service

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Plainview Church. The Rev. Ray Webb will be the speaker. A basket dinner will follow in the fellowship hall. The Plainview Community Cemetery Association will also hold its annual business meeting the same day in the church's fellowship hall, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Donations for the cemetery may be mailed to treasurer Joyce Baker, 1235 Crow St., Jackson, Mo. 63755.

Activities coming up at First Baptist Church

Tuesday Youth Bible Study will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Come and meet Phillip Meece the summer youth intern. Also, Wednesday Bible study with Dr. Ron Winstead will be "General Epistles," 1 Peter 5. The continuing sermon series with the Rev. Mike Shupert will be "Life Together -- Relationships."

Fellowship service at New Life Gospel Center

New Life Gospel Center, 401 Oak St., in Scott City, invites everyone of all faiths to a fellowship service at 7:30 p.m. Friday. There will be special music and singing, along with speakers.

Homecoming on Sunday at Fairview Church

The singing group Crossroads will be featured at the homecoming of Fairview Baptist Church on June 3 in Advance, Mo. Sunday school will be at 9:45 a.m., and the worship service will be at 11, followed by lunch at noon and afternoon singing beginning at 1:30 p.m. To get to the church, take Highway 25 north of Advance to Route NN, then go to County Road 253, one mile to the church.

Gospel singing groups perform at Shilo Baptist

The Gloryroad Travelers of Mounds, Ill., and Echoes of Calvary of Golconda, Ill., will be in concert at 7 p.m. June 2 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Villa Ridge, Ill.

St. Padre Pio will meet at Saint Francis

Christian recording artist John Starnes performs at 7 p.m. at the Central Junior High School Auditorium, 205 Caruthers Ave., Cape Girardeau. This is a free concert; an offering will be taken. The doors will open at 6 p.m.

Sunday

Annual "Pleasant Hill" Day will begin with worship at 11 a.m., basket dinner on the grounds at noon, sponsored by Pleasant Hill Cemetery Association in Fruitland. Bring your own table service, folding table and lawn chairs.

Barks Chapel Church in Bollinger County will have memorial service at 11 a.m. Joe Allen will bring the message.

Gospel singing at Father's Arms Fellowship

Father's Arms Fellowship is having a Gospel singing with The Southern Brothers at 6 p.m., June 3 at 1400 Main St., Scott City, in the church parking lot. There will be refreshments served by the teens as a fund raiser, and the community is invited. Everyone should bring lawn chairs. In the event of rain, the program will move to the sanctuary.

Catholic youth group going to Chicago for Operation Overhaul

The Vincentian Marian Youth is gearing up for its weeklong mission trip, Operation Overhaul: Chicago. The group will be there from June 24 to July 1, traveling by van to Chicago where they will be working and serving the poor under the guidance of Catholic Charities and the Daughters of Charity. This will be the third weeklong mission offered by the teens. The first in 2005 took place in the Appalachian mountain community of Pineville, W. Va., under the guidance of the local St. Vincent de Paul Society, where they painted and repaired homes, built a covering on a wheelchair ramp and other activities. Last year the group helped clean up in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. Teens, from incoming high school freshen to graduated seniors, Catholic and non-Catholic, are welcome to sign up. Summer study at the park

The Stonecroft Bible Study at the park will begin June 6, and will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. each Wednesday in June at South Cape County Park, Shelter 21. The theme is "Why Believe? Investigate Evidence for Faith." These are informal, nondenominational studies. Mariner's Tent Revival

The annual Mariner's Tent Revival at First Assembly of God Church in Scott City will be at 7 p.m. each night, June 5 to 8. Mike Adkins will be featured June 5 and 6, followed by Greg Hood June 7 and 8.
