The sixth annual event, formerly known as the Pretty in Pink 5K, will raise funds for the American Cancer Society. Learn about risk factors for breast cancer, the importance of early detection and screenings and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Featured speakers are Dr. Sarah Colwick, breast surgeon and Pam Lewis, Womancare breast cancer navigator and nurse practitioner. The evening also includes a Zumba demonstration, wine, cheese, socializing and chair massages. The fifth annual Pink Moon Run & Walk starts at 5 p.m. at the Cape County Courthouse in Jackson. The event, organized by A Sister's Hope, will raise money for breast cancer research and other local charities. Mount Auburn Road; SoutheastHEALTH Foundation office at 60 Doctors' Park; Cape Girardeau Police Department, 40 S. Sprigg St.; and Cape Girardeau Fire Department #1, 1 S. Sprigg St. Proceeds from T-shirt sales will help provide mammograms for underserved women and help fund cancer patients' immediate needs while undergoing treatment.
