4-Her finishes second in state competition

Cort Hutchason placed second in 4-H State Skeet Doubles Competition at Columbia in September. In his first year in the 4-H shotgun program, he hit 23 out of 50 clay birds. More than 300 4-H youth competeted at the state shotgun meet. Shotgun is one of the projects under the 4-H Shooting Sports program in Cape Cirardeau County. Horman completes Navy basic training

Navy seaman recruit Dallon O. Horman, son of Susan M. and Delbert O. Horman of Chaffee, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. In November, he will be stationed at Little Creek, Va., as a Electricians Mate Fireman Apprentice with the Amphibious Construction Battalion. He is a 2012 graduate of Scott City High School.
