Ellie Kidd, a senior at Central High School, is one of 15 Missouri students honored by the Missouri State Board of Education and the Missouri Bar as recipients of the 2012 Outstanding Achievement in Citizenship Award. Ellie and her parents, Adam and Kay Kidd, attended a luncheon at the Governor's Mansion in Jefferson City, Mo., where she received the state award that has been presented annually since 1990.
The Missouri National Guard's Field Maintenance Shop in Cape Girardeau recently earned first place in the Department of the Army's Award for Maintenance Excellence competition. The Army Award for Maintenance Excellence, or AAME, is a prestigious award highly sought after by Army units and maintenance shops across the country.
During its annual spring luncheon in Columbia, Mo., the Mayflower Society of Missouri awarded Dustin Peetz of Cape Girardeau a $1,000 scholarship for his essay titled "The Mayflower Pilgrim and 'Strangers' and the settlement of Plymouth Plantation."
