Local students receive awards

Nineteen Distributive Education Clubs of America students from the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center earned awards at the district competition earlier this month at Southeast Missouri State University. The local chapter's category winners and high schools they represent are: Principles of Finance, first place: Veronica Ely of Cape Girardeau Central High School; second place: Luke Phillips of Central; third place: Monica Kester of Oak Ridge. Principles of Business Management and Administration, first place: Corey Connell of Central; second place: Chelsea Kirn of Oak Ridge; third place: Derek Nunnery of Central. Principles of Marketing, first place: Matthew Clark of Central; second place: Lacy Garner of Central. Principles of Hospitality and Tourism, second place: Madison Mohnsen of Central; third place: Nicholas Hester of Scott City. Hotel and Lodging Management, first place: Tyler Collins of Central. Marketing Management, first place: Chelsea Willett of Central. Quick Service Restaurant Management, third place: Zach Schmitt of Central. Retail Merchandising Series, second Place: Cameron Propst of Central. Financial Services Team Event, first place: Ryan Watts and Seth Mayes of Central.
