Wehrenberg rolls out discounted second runs

Wehrenberg will start is Summer Series of family films, a different family film at a discounted rate each week, starting Thursday. The series will show second-run every Thursday and Friday at 10 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. All films were released in 2006. The series begins with "Night at the Museum" Thursday and June 1 and concludes with "Barnyard" Aug. 8 and 9.

Storyteller Dean Allison entertains at Red House

Storyteller Dean Allison will appear at the Red House at 2 p.m. Saturday. Allison will sing and tell Appalachian tales of Davy Crockett, John Henry and others. Allison is an Ohio native and former administrator at Southeast Missouri State University. For more information on the Red House Interpretive Center, call 335-1631.

Westray to partner with Cat Ranch Art Guild

Dr. Joel Ray's Westray photography studio on Broadway will partner with the Cat Ranch Art Guild to create a new local art gallery. The gallery will host a grand opening from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The gallery will also be open on First Friday from noon to 9 p.m. and other Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 6 p.m.

Bluegrass gospel show at Hidden Valley

Hidden Valley Campground, located of Bollinger County Road 203, will host a bluegrass gospel show at 7:30 p.m. Saturday featuring a performance by the Welker Family. Admission is free.

Chapman work featured at Bernard Gallery

Dr. Jean Chapman will show a new collection of porcelain female figures at the Edward Bernard Gallery June 1. Chapman will also have previously created work available for purchase. For more information, call 332-7733.

Series of Mosley book events planned

Jean Bell Mosley's upcoming posthumously published autobiography "And God Answered" beginning Wednesday and continuing through June 20. Events are: a book launch at the Cape Girardeau Public Library at 7 p.m. Wednesday; a display at the Garden Gallery First Friday reception from 4 to 7 p.m. June 1; a book signing by Steve Mosley at Barnes and Noble from 3 to 5 p.m. June 10; a book signing by Steve Mosley followed by a book lecture at the Sikeston Depot Museum at 1 p.m. June 16; and an event with the Altenburg Historical Society from 6 to 8 p.m. June 20.

Crowe and Alworth to exhibit at Arts Council

Dr. David Crowe and Brian Alworth will exhibit their photography in June at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri. Crowe is a local orthodontist, and Alworth is a meteorologist for KFVS12. An opening reception will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. June 1 at the arts council galleries. For more information, call 334-9233.
