Mardi Gras Pub Crawl slated for Fat Tuesday

The second annual Real Rock 99.3 Miller Lite Mardi Gras Pub Crawl will take place Tuesday, with festivities beginning at 5:15 p.m. at D'Ladium's. The crawl will wind its way through Cape Girardeau's downtown bars and restaurants, ending at the Pour House. Live entertainment will be offered in many establishments. Benefit art auction to be held Feb. 23

The Garden Gallery will host a wine tasting and silent auction of artwork from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 23. Proceeds from the event will benefit CASA and the local Safe House for Women. In addition, the gallery will donate 20 percent of any purchases outside auctioned items to the organizations. Ticket price is $25. Singer/songwriters teach seminar Sunday

Singer/songwriters Janet and Ken Bates will teach a songwriting seminar at 2 p.m. Sunday at Broadway Books and Roasting Co. sponsored by the SEMO Acoustic Musicians Guild. The workshop will cap off a weekend of two area shows for the Bates, the first being from 8 to 10 p.m. Friday at Broadway Books and Roasting.

River City Players host auditions for 'Miss Daisy'

The River City Players community theater group will hold auditions for its upcoming production of "Driving Miss Daisy" at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 26 in the Captain's Quarters at Port Cape Girardeau. Only one audition will be held. For more information, call 334-0954.

Winston to play at benefit for Saint Francis

Renowned pianist and slack-key guitar player George Winston will appear in concert at 7 p.m. Feb. 28 at Old St. Vincent's Church. The concert will be a benefit to raise funds for the Saint Francis Medical Center's Children's Fund. The concert will feature Winston playing Hawaiian slack-key guitar style -- a finger-style tradition that began in Hawaii around 1830. Winston is best known for his piano works, pieces he describes as "rural folk piano." For more information, call the Saint Francis Foundation at 331-5133.
