Meeting, workshop held at arts council next week

The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri will hold two Missouri Arts Council meetings on Thursday. The first meeting will be a grant information workshop from 3 to 5 p.m. at the arts council. The workshop is open to all prospective grant applicants for MAC grants. A strategic planning meeting will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m., to address MAC's role in supporting arts in the region. Arts council features art from schoolchildren

The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri will hold its annual Children's Arts Festival at its galleries starting Dec. 11, featuring artwork from local school children. An opening reception will be held at 3 p.m. Dec. 11 after a 2 p.m. concert at the First Presbyterian Church. For more information, call the arts council at 334-9233.

Sundays at Three features violin and piano recital

The Sundays at Three concert series will continue at 3 p.m. Dec. 11 with a piano/violin recital by Dr. Brandon Christensen and St. Louis pianist Jennifer Lim. Scott City PTO holds follies Saturday at gym

The Scott City PTO will hold its Follies at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Scott City school gymnasium. The Follies feature entertainment performed by adults from the Scott City area, with song and dance designed to garner laughs. All proceeds go to the Scott City PTO. Second 'Sing Along Messiah' held Saturday

The second annual "Sing Along Messiah" concert will take place at 4 p.m. Saturday in the New McKendree United Methodist Church Sanctuary on High Street in Jackson. Four of Handel's Christmas Choruses including the "Hallelujah" chorus will be performed under the direction of Dr. John Egbert and accompanied by Christy Shinn. Harwell Musem plans opening reception

Christmas Homes Tour to benefit Sikeston Depot

SIKESTON, Mo. -- The fifth annual Sikeston Depot Christmas Homes Tour is set for 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The tour will start at the Depot, 116 W. Malone Ave., and visit four decorated homes in Sikeston. The tour will finish with refreshments and an exhibition called "Treasures of Emperor Napoleon" at the Depot. Museum needs guides for Smithsonian show

MURPHYSBORO, Ill. -- The General John A. Logan Museum is calling for volunteers to work as docents for the Smithsonian Institution exhibit "Between Fences," running from Dec. 27 through Feb. 3. Training workshops will be held at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday at the museum. Volunteers need to attend one of the workshops.
