As someone who writes about houses every week, it's not often that I find a house that seems to have it all. This is that rare rose of a house.
Location, style, space, and a great yard ... it's hard to imagine one place that has everything. But that's the case with the home at 2320 Perryville Road.
It's a rambling brick ranch that sprawls luxuriously across a 2.82 acre wooded lot that is a rarity in Cape Girardeau's growing residential areas.
From the stylish aggregate circle driveway that leads to an attached three-car garage and plus a separate detached garage, it's obvious that this house has plenty to offer.
Luxuries abound, like leaded and beveled glass windows that act as prisms of glittering light in the entrance foyer and windows that let in volumes of natural light and beautiful views.
The living room features a three-sided fireplace that adds both style and warmth to the living and dining rooms. A spiral staircase winds downstairs to even more luxurious living space in the finished basement.
The kitchen, like much of the house, features rich hardwood floors that contrast nicely with a light color palette. The light colors reflect the light from the home's banks of windows. One set of windows overlooks a large deck.
The outdoors of this home has been just as thoughtfully planned as the indoors. Multiple decks serve as entertainment and rest areas, including a deck for a hot tub and another that adjoins a large inground pool area.
Inside, the outdoors is enjoyed through the windows. The dining room and kitchen both feature great windows. But man-made stylish light sources are also used, from a chandelier of wrought iron and crystal in the dining room to strategically placed inset lighting throughout the house.
The gourmet kitchen features an island with a wooden butcher's-block top and white cabinetry for additional storage and electrical outlet space. Appliances, like a Jenn-Air Range with built above microwave oven and a built-in double oven in jet black combine function with good looks. The customized refrigerator has panels that mimic the white kitchen cabinetry, camouflaging it perfectly. Yet there is an effective use of color with ruby-red walls providing a splashy background.
The family room also includes custom cabinetry, including an entertainment center. A classic white brick fireplace combines classic structure with modern flair.
This home was designed with much thought. A good example of that is the custom cabinetry that is found to store coats, hats, lunchboxes and backpacks just inside the three-car garage. Storage space was incorporated well throughout the house.
This home has five bedrooms, all well-designed with style and high functionality. Each has great custom cabinetry, louvered privacy shutters and closet doors, and clever use of color. Each of the bathrooms has also been designed using stylish materials like black marble and white cabinetry. The master bathroom, in particular, features some beautiful cabinetry, including an arched vanity in white with glass front cabinetry on each side. Everything from wallpaper to tile to lighting and accessories has been well-chosen.
The finished basement of this home has also been well-designed with plenty of natural light. A large family room includes a wet bar with custom cabinetry including a wine rack, a two-burner range, stainless steel wet bar sink, dishwasher, and ice maker. A classic brick wood-burning fireplace makes this the perfect room for family time. Nearby is a children's playroom, and a custom built desk and shelves for storage of children's books and toys.
A downstairs bedroom has two large sliding windows that overlook the hot tub deck. Wood paneled walls give the room a woodsy look. A large downstairs bath includes a step-in all-tile shower. A downstairs laundry room includes a deep sink for hand washables and plenty of space for hanging clothes. The downstairs also features plenty of unfinished space for storage.
