You don't have to go downtown to get live music. A few younger bands have gathered for a concert Saturday at the Arena Park 4H building.

Decapitation During Breakfast, Silence the Oppressor and I Bury the Ocean will each play a set at the concert, which starts at 7 p.m.

The acts are all "pretty much all young bands," said Bryce Conner, of Decapitation During Breakfast. At 19, Conner is the oldest.

His band, though, is the freshman act. Decapitation has only been practicing together for a little more than a month. Both Silence the Oppressor and I Bury the Ocean have played concerts before, either at The Well in Poplar Bluff or the now-closed Enchanted Forest.

Since the Forest closed in February, the teen bands have had no venue, Conner said. The Arena Building will provide a nice break from the silence.

The bands offer something a little different than the acoustic singer/songwriter concerts you might see.

"It's a pretty heavy show," Conner said. "So if you like hard music or heavy music, that's the place to come."

Tickets are $5 to see all the bands. The show is open to all ages.
