This is the Ozarks.
To me, a wooded hill makes the perfect backdrop for a nostalgic Southeast Missouri country scene.
A rainy morning provided an afternoon with fog lifting out of the distant forest.
The day before was hot, making for a humid trip through the countryside.
The moisture from the cool morning rain began to evaporate and lift out of the trees as fog.
This fog has the appearance of smoke from a distance.
This picture shows the stormy weather is not over.
Thunder rolled in the distance as I captured this image, and soon after, it again was raining hard.
The old shed with boards missing from its outer walls begs to tell a story of a time gone by.
Not everyone would want to walk through this field to investigate the old shed close up.
August in Southeast Missouri promises ticks and chiggers in the grass, and a very good chance the old shed harbors a snake or two.
Good advice says to enjoy the beauty from a distance.
If ever you are inclined to investigate an old building such as this, be sure to seek out the property owner and get permission first.
To go without permission would be unlawful.
