A little slice of country living

In a pastoral setting, from a winding rural road to nearly nine acres of ranchland, this Jackson home is pure country.

Though still visible, the house sits back from the road. To the left of a long, concrete drive, is a barn with seven tie stalls, a loft, tack room, round pen, a lean-to on two sides and a stud stall. Sliding doors open on both sides, and there are electricity and water hookups.

Along the alternating treated-pine and antique brick steps in front of the home are evergreen trees. The treated pine porch reaches nearly around the entire house, with white wooden railing around the greater part. One section of the porch has no railing but offers an uncluttered view of the countryside from indoors.

In the front are seven windows, three on the left of the forest green front door and two sets of two on the right. The front door opens up to "tongue-and- groove" hardwood oak flooring. White sheet-rock walls make the room seem even wider than it is. All the windows in the house have wooden window sills, and all the floors are hardwood or ceramic tile.

Forest green ceramic 12-inch tile covers the kitchen floor, the only section of the main living area without hardwood floors. The great room is open to the kitchen and the dining room. An L-shaped bar faces both the great room and the dining room. Track lighting illuminates two of the kitchen walls, and a hanging, green and white stained glass lamp lights the bar.

The kitchen sink is in the corner with windows perpendicular to each other. White appliances include an oven-microwave combination beside the gas range on the left wall of the kitchen. Counter space separates the sink from the built-in dishwasher and side-by-side refrigerator on the right. Plenty of oak cabinetry is provided throughout the kitchen, including inside the bar.

On the right, in back of the house, the dining room has a ceiling fan and French doors opening to the pasture area. To the right of the great room and in front is a hallway.

In the hall, facing the front, the first door is a closet, the next, a small office. On the right side of the hall are two bedrooms with mirrors on the sliding closet doors.

Between the two bedrooms is a full bathroom with two sinks and ceramic counters. The combination shower-bath has an opaque glass door, and the floors are covered with 12-inch light-colored ceramic tile.

Across from the second bedroom on the right and down the hall from the office, is the master suite. There are two windows on one wall and one on the other.

The master bath contains a combination shower and tub, one sink, a linen closet, and a walk-in closet.

In the finished basement is a family room with a gas fireplace, a large storage room, ceramic tile floors and white rustic paneling. The full bath/laundry room combination has a shower in the corner facing a nook with hat racks.

The basement walks out to the two-car driveway with a single garage.
