Members of Cape Girardeau County's 4-H programs recently competed in a statewide trap shotgun competition in Linn Creek, Mo.
Those in the competition were Gary Schweer; Dale Todt, the shotgun project leader; Spencer Lorenz; Emily Todt; and Paul Lichtenegger.
Shooting sports are among youth development educational programs offered by 4-H and use skills and disciplines of shooting to assist youth in obtaining knowledge and developing skills, according to the organization.
The programs are open to all youth ages 8 to 18. Project choices for all ages include shooting sports safety, archery, air rifle/BB gun, small-bore .22-caliber rifle, air pistol and hunting and outdoor skills. Projects for ages 11 and up include shotgun and muzzle-loading; and for 14 years and up, small-bore pistol.
Cape Girardeau County has 15 4-H clubs in local communities.
