Browning joined Witz Restaurant in 1985 as a bus boy. He later became a waiter and has worked there while attending Southeast Missouri State University.

Everything will be the same," said Browning. "Most of the employees, including cooks, will remain. The home cooking will continue, and the popular pie board will remain."

The restaurant, which opened in March 1982, was operated by Betty Colyer and her husband, William M. "Witz" Colyer, for 13 years.

The restaurant will open six days a week, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturday and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Breakfast will be served from 7 to 11 a.m. and lunch and dinner the rest of the day.
