MEMO: FRITO-LAY EXPANDING PLANT IN ARKANSAS

Frito-Lay Inc., of Dallas, Texas, is expanding its Jonesboro, Ark. plant by 100,000 square feet.

The $35 million addition will create a room to manufacture a new single-serve snack product and will employ up to 100 new workers .

Frito-Lay located a giant facility in Jonesboro in 1998, with a $400,000 square foot facility which employs about 700.

Frito-Lay -- which looked at sites in Southeast Missouri (Cape Girardeau, New Madrid, Sikeston and Malden), West Tennessee and North Mississippi during an 18-month search -- selected Jonesboro in for the plant in 1996.
